Solar Walk and Stargazing- March 21, 2026

Join us on a journey into outer space and view our nighttime skies! As you travel through the Reserve on a 1.5-mile hike, learn about the planets in our solar system. At the end of the hike, join astronomers from the San Diego Astronomy Association to get an up-close view of our galaxy with their powerful telescopes. This program is suitable for all ages, and everyone should dress warmly. Limited to 25 participants per time slot. Astronomers, but not the event, may be cancelled due to heavy cloud coverage. Heavy rain cancels event.

Cost is $6 per person. Registration is required.

Junior Nature Ranger- April 18, 2026

9:00-11:00 am

Become a Junior Nature Ranger! Docents will lead children ages 6-10 through a series of activities in the Blue Sky Ecological Reserve, allowing them to experience nature firsthand and have fun in the outdoors.Nature Ranger Certificates will be issued upon completion of the activities.

A wonderful way for families to share time together and connect with nature! Program is free but space is limited to 15 children. Email to sign up, or call the Blue Sky Office at 858-668-4781.

Hoot, Howl, & Prowl - Oct. 17, 2026


Blue Sky Reserve comes alive after dark! Meet the canyon’s “wildlife” (docents dressed in animal costumes) up close! Groups will leave at 15-minute intervals, and tours last approximately 75 minutes. Kids are welcome to wear their costumes. End the evening with a cup of hot chocolate! Registration required.
