Lake Poway has a new record for bass caught: 14.1 pounds! Congratulations to Jesse Lamar for reeling it in!
Bass spawning season runs from March throughout May; all bass are catch-and-release only during this time. The record fish was not harmed in the taking of these photos and was returned safely to the lake afterward. (It was kept in the water and only pulled out for measuring. Lake staff watched the fish swim away after it was placed back in the water.) Catch-and-release fishing improves native fish populations by allowing more fish to remain and reproduce in the ecosystem.
Lake Poway is open for fishing Wednesdays through Sundays from 6am to sunset.
