[ARCHIVED] Cool Zone Locations & Hot Weather Safety Tips

two cool zones in Poway

Goodbye “lower than normal temperatures” – summer is here and Poway has two designated Cool Zones if you need to escape the heat.

The Cool Zones program is an established network of sites for older adults, persons with disabilities, or anyone looking to escape the extreme heat during the summer. Cool Zones are free, located throughout San Diego County, and a way for residents to lower individual utility usage and help conserve energy for the whole community.

The lounge at the Mickey Cafagna Community Center in Community Park is open for all to use, and has drop-in games and bring-your-own craft sessions as part of the community center's Older Adult activities (poway.org/olderadults). The Poway Community Library is also designated a Cool Zone in this program managed by the County's Aging & Independence Services in partnership with San Diego Gas & Electric.

For information about Cool Zones visit coolzones.org.
