Older Adult Programs & Services
The City of Poway proudly announces the launch of programming for older adults at the new Mickey Cafagna Community Center.
These classes and activities are made possible in part through support from the Friends of Poway Seniors, which has refocused efforts from providing services (at the former Poway Senior Center) to fundraising to enrich programming at Poway’s new multi-generational community center.
• Feeling Fit (in partnership with the County of San Diego): Feeling Fit offers a safe, comfortable environment to engage in physical activity, social interaction, and fun. Learn about the benefits of exercise, health, and fitness components. All moves and exercises are designed to be adapted to various physical abilities and can be performed from a seated or standing position.
• Line Dancing: Do you love music, like to dance, but don’t have a partner? Learn to line dance! Each dance is a pattern of steps that repeats throughout the song. We’ll learn a new dance each week to different music.
• Silver Age Yoga: Silver Age Yoga is designed to reach the entire bell curve of the older adult population so that all older adults from beginner to advanced can safely participate at their own level of comfort.
This summer, we're pleased to offer:
• Kapuna Hula: Hula helps with flexibility, strength, coordination, posture, and confidence. All levels of experience are welcome to learn about Hula, Hawaiian language, mythology, history and culture. Hula can also be done from a seated position if necessary.
Additional classes will be announced for the Fall Quarter. View all of the City of Poway's current class offerings.
Popular card, tile games, and more! Details and specific weekly days and times to be announced soon.
