On Tuesday, Nov. 2 the Poway City Council will hold a public hearing to consider four-year rates for water and wastewater. A notice of public hearing (also known as a Prop 218 notice) was mailed to more than 13,300 property owners in Poway outlining the proposed changes as well as the process for public input.
Staff provided an overview at the Sept. 7 Poway City Council as part of the recommendation to set a public hearing. The 12-minute presentation is at the beginning of Item 6 and walks through the factors considered in setting rates, Poway’s necessary water infrastructure projects and alternative rate scenarios.
The proposed rate changes are driven by the rising costs of importing water, as well as the need to complete critical water infrastructure projects focused on increasing the reliability of drinking water for Poway water customers now and generations to come.
