With the power out in many areas of Poway, traffic signals may be out or on red flash. If a signal isn’t functioning, please remember to treat it as a four-way stop.
If you have questions about power outages, please visit SDG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff page or the SDG&E outages map. You can also call SDG&E at 1-800-411-7343.
Also on the Public Safety Power Shutoff page is a list of SDG&E's Community Resource Centers that offer water, WiFi, phone charging and more. They have not set up a resource center in Poway, but you can visit any center. (And if we hear any additional info on centers we will share that ASAP.)
The Center for Disease Control has a webpage about food safety during a power outage.
Take time today to double check your family’s level of preparedness – do you have the supplies you need in the event of a long-term outage, including batteries and a game plan for recharging devices (which are a lifeline for communications)? With the high level of fire risk, have you reviewed your family’s evacuation plan in the event you would need to leave your home?
If you see wind damage on city streets or right of ways, you can use the Poway CityApp to easily make a report from your mobile device. Download the app for free at Apple App Store or Google Play. You can also report via our website at poway.org/service.
Please know that while the city doesn't have control over when the power will be back on, we will continue to share any information that SDG&E puts out and we will continue to respond to questions you have to the best of our ability.
**We'll update this article with any new information as well as post on our City Manager's account on Nextdoor, as well as Twitter and Facebook (@cityofpoway). We encourage you to follow SDG&E on their social media as well. **
