Come out and enjoy night fishing at Lake Poway beginning July 7th and continuing every Friday and Saturday night until September 2nd. The lake will be open until 11:30 PM, and boats can stay out until 11:00 PM. The lake will be stocked with 1,300 lb. of Catfish on July 7th.
Catfish: Catfish bite continues to be the most consistent fish to target at Lake Poway. Every week anglers fishing off both the shoreline and boats have luck. Recommended baits for targeting this fish are mackerel, chicken liver, and stink baits. Hot spots were the Fishing Pier, Buoy Line, and the Beach. Lake Poway is finalizing dates for Night Fishing and Catfish stocking schedule, continue to check website for updates.
Trout: Anglers continue to have luck fishing off the boats at deeper depths. Most of the Trout caught have been off Mini Jigs and free-floating worms at medium depths of the Lake. Hot spots for the week were the Buoy Line and trolling at a slow speed around the Lake.
Bass: The Bass bite has slowed after the recent spawning season as most Bass are no longer bedding. Recommended baits are night crawlers, creature jigs, and plastic worms. Hot spots for the week were Half Moon Bay and Jump off Point.
