Be Aware
Crime often increases during this time of year. Use common sense and follow these prevention tips for a happy and safe holiday season.
When You Are at Home
Keep your windows and exterior doors locked.
Do not open your door for a stranger.
Do not display gifts in front of windows or doors so that they are visible from the street or to passersby.
If you will be gone for any period of time, leave a radio tuned to a talk show on a low volume and place lamps on overlapping timers to simulate movement inside your home.
When You Are Out
Lock your vehicle and roll the windows all the way up.
Be alert and aware of your surroundings.
Walk with authority and a purpose.
Carry only the money you’ll need and limit the number of credit/debit cards you carry.
Never leave your purse, wallet, electronics, or other important items in your vehicle.
Use caution when carrying a purse or wallet. Carry your purse close to your body, preferably in front. Place your wallet in your front pocket.
Never leave your purse or shopping bags unattended in a shopping cart.
Park as close to your destination as possible and stay in populated areas with good lighting.
When walking to your car, have your keys in hand.
