Just in time for the extended heat wave, the Mickey Cafagna Community Center lounge has been added to the list of Cool Zones in San Diego County.
The Cool Zones program is an established network of sites for older adults, persons with disabilities, or anyone looking to escape the extreme heat during the summer. Cool Zones are free, located throughout San Diego County, and a way for residents to lower individual utility usage and help conserve energy for the whole community.
The lounge is open for all to use, but hosts drop-in games and bring-your-own craft sessions throughout the week as part of the community center's Older Adult programming.
The Poway Community Library is also designated a Cool Zone in this program managed by the County's Aging & Independence Services in partnership with San Diego Gas & Electric. For a list of Cool Zone throughout San Diego County, visit the County's website.
