[ARCHIVED] Poway Safest City in San Diego in State Report

Poway makes safest cities list

The City of Poway was named the seventh safest city in California in the 2022 SafeWise “50 Safest Cities in California” report. Poway was the highest ranked city in San Diego County, moving up from #12 to #7 on this annual list of California’s safest cities based on FBI crime data and population statistics.

"We are fortunate to have a great team of Sheriff's deputies who understand that public safety is our number one priority in Poway,” Poway Mayor Steve Vaus said. “Their proactive professionalism, expertise and dedication have consistently kept our city top-ranked in terms of safety. We are in their debt.”

Incorporated in 1980, the City of Poway is home to nearly 50,000 residents. “The City in the Country” is known for its safety, fiscal management, natural beauty, commitment to open space and recreational opportunities and a thriving business sector.
