Let’s talk about Community Park! The City of Poway is gathering input to shape the future of Community Park through an online survey. The survey is part of a project that will create an action plan for future amenities and programming at the park.
Community Park offers a diverse array of amenities and opportunities for families, neighbors, and friends to come together in the heart of Poway. In addition to the community center and swim center, the park has a skate park, baseball fields, dog park, two playgrounds, picnic tables and basketball, tennis and bocce courts.
“Community Park is in the middle of a transformation,” City Manager Chris Hazeltine said, “We have a new community center, a recently upgraded swim center, and with the new development along Poway Road the timing is right to create an action plan that provides the greatest benefit for our park users.”
With more housing on Poway Road, the City expects park use to increase. The City will also gain funds specifically for improvement projects at the park through new park impact fees.
“Our goal is to engage the community in the most inclusive and innovative manner possible and let the community’s value and unmet needs drive the priorities for Community Park’s future,” City Planner David DeVries said.
Take the survey at PlanCommunityPark.com or stop by the Mickey Cafagna Community for a printed copy. The survey is available in both English and Spanish and will remain open through early September. The final assessment is expected to be reviewed at an October Poway City Council meeting.
The website also has an overview of the project, links to community meetings, and an opportunity to provide additional public comment.
