The City of Poway earned a ranking of #12 in the 2021 SafeWise “50 Safest Cities in California” report. Poway was the highest ranked city in San Diego County, moving up one spot on this annual list of California’s safest cities based on FBI crime data and population statistics. Encinitas (#17), San Marcos (#26) and Santee (#34) were also included this year.
"Credit for this goes to our Sheriff's deputies,” Poway Mayor Steve Vaus said. “Their dedication and proactive efforts are what continually make Poway the safest city in the County. We are deeply grateful for their service."
Incorporated in 1980, the City of Poway is home to nearly 50,000 residents. “The City in the Country” is known for its safety, fiscal management, natural beauty, commitment to open space and recreational opportunities and a thriving business sector.
