The City of Poway is proud to announce the appointment of Vaida Pavolas to the position of city clerk.
“We are thrilled to welcome Vaida to the City of Poway,” said Poway City Manager Chris Hazeltine. “Her skill set and commitment to public service will be an asset to the city.”
Public service has been her passion since Pavolas interned with the City of Solana Beach in 2008. She worked as the city’s deputy city clerk for five years and was most recently the assistant city clerk for the City of Oceanside.
“I am very excited to be part of ‘The City in the Country’ team,” said Pavolas, “and I look forward to providing the highest quality of service to the community, the public and all other City Departments.”
Pavolas graduated from University of California, San Diego with a degree in political science and a minor in economics. She also earned a paralegal certificate from the University of San Diego School of Law and is a Certified Municipal Clerk.
The city clerk provides the link between citizens and government by coordinating the legislative process, administering city elections and ensuring that public records are preserved, archived and accessible to the public. The clerk also acts as a compliance officer for federal, state and local statutes, including the Political Reform Act, the Brown Act and the Public Records Act.
