[ARCHIVED] Water Awareness Poster Contest Winners Announced

water awareness contest winners

The City of Poway recognized two Poway fourth graders for their participation in a water awareness poster contest held annually by a collaboration of North County water agencies.

Anoushka Soans, who attends Painted Rock, placed first for her entry into the “Love Water, Save Water” themed competition. Ava Delaney, who attends Midland Elementary, placed second.

Fourth graders were asked to show, through their art, how they love water or save water and use their imagination to encourage others to do the same. Water is one of our region’s most valuable resources and whether we’re actively in a drought or not, it’s important for our community to practice being “water wise” on an ongoing basis.

The winning entries from each participating water agencies will earn a spot in an annual calendar, which is expected to release in the Fall. This was Poway’s first year to participate with the North County water agencies. The competition would typically be done in fourth grade classrooms, but with the district closing campuses due to the pandemic the City moved the competition online.

Winners received a framed copy of their artwork, an Amazon gift card and a water bottle personalized with their winning design.
