[ARCHIVED] Emergency Curfew in Poway This Evening

Council Chambers building

To our Poway community: The safety of our community is our number one priority. The City of Poway, alongside the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, is aware of and monitoring this afternoon’s peaceful gathering along Poway Road. We recognize and support every individual’s first amendment right to free speech and to voice that speech in public. But we have also witnessed the scenes playing out in communities across America once the sun goes down. To protect our city – and to deter unlawful activity in Poway – we are enacting an emergency curfew this evening, May 31 at 8 p.m. until Monday, June 1 at 5:30 a.m.

Please note the following exemptions: All law enforcement, fire, medical personnel, and members of the news media are exempt from this Curfew. Individuals traveling directly to and from work, seeking emergency care, fleeing dangerous circumstances, or experiencing homelessness are also exempt.
