New rates were just approved for Poway water and sewer customers for 2019 (to be reflected on bills beginning in May), but the City of Poway is already looking toward the future. The City is moving forward with a water and sewer rates study following the award of contract at the March 19 meeting. The study will assess and evaluate the current rate structures and identify possible changes or alternative rate structures. The City anticipates holding public workshops in the fall as part of the water and sewer rates study.
For right now, City Manager Tina White described the new rates as the “least possible increase without impacting Poway’s ability to provide a safe and reliable water supply to its customers.”
With the expiration of the temporary drought recovery surcharge in December 2018 residential customers may still see an overall decrease on their bill compared to last year. The Poway City Council approved the rates at the March 5 council meeting.
