[ARCHIVED] Storms Preparedness

Copy of Be Prepared!

According to the National Weather Service, we have three storm fronts coming through our area between Thursday and Monday, with the heaviest rain expected on Saturday.

If you find yourself in need of sandbags, the city provides empty bags and loose sand at three locations around Poway:

  • West side of Midland Road, south of Old Poway Park (in the Farmer's Market parking lot)
  • Lake Poway Road, east of Espola Road (Overflow Parking Lot)
  • South side of Garden Road, east of Floral Avenue (across from Garden Road School)

Please note that these stations make available the supplies – you need to bring your own shovel to fill the bags at the site. Visit our Winter Storms page for more information.

At this time, the weather pattern shows a break between storms on Friday. Use that opportunity to assess your property and make any additional preparations before the heavier rains arrive on Saturday.

If you need to report a flooding problem, call 858-668-4700 during business hours or 858-668-4751 during non-business hours.
