The Poway City Council reviewed proposed 2019 city water and sewer rates at a special council workshop on Tuesday, Jan. 8 and voted to move forward with the process established under California’s Proposition 218 to hold a March 5 public hearing on the proposed rates. The proposed rates continue to be among the lower third of both water and sewer rates among water districts in San Diego County while recovering revenue needed to ensure a safe and reliable water supply for Poway water customers.

A notice of public hearing detailing the proposed rate changes will be mailed to Poway water customers on Jan. 16 and available online for review.

The process for providing written protest is included in the public hearing notice. Water customers will have a 45-day window of time to submit comments leading up to the March 5 public hearing. City Council will hear and consider all written and oral protests to the proposed rate structure and rate adjustments at the hearing.

The rate adjustments being considered will become effective March 2019 for all bills mailed on or after May 1, 2019.
