Seniors and caregivers are invited to a special presentation in Poway on how to fight off financial scammers. The free “Don’t Get Hooked” forum will be held May 12 at 9 a.m. in the Poway Community Park Auditorium, 13094 Civic Center Drive.
The bad guys often see the elderly as easy prey. The goal of this two-hour event is to give seniors and their caregivers the information they need to avoid getting caught in financial scams.
Speakers will include scam victims, Sheriff’s Department Detective Maureen Perkins and Deputy District Attorney Paul Greenwood, an expert on elder abuse and financial crimes. Experts from county Aging and Independence Services and the Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk's office will also be on hand to offer advice and answer questions.
Event check-in will begin at 8:30 a.m. A free continental breakfast will be served. To register call call 844-899-1597 or sign up at link below. Go to www.sdcda.org for more information.
