The City of Poway will begin its annual street maintenance the week of July 18. In an effort to keep public streets safe and accessible, the city rotates street repairs, with one of eight street maintenance zones worked on each year.
The first phase of this year’s project will address deep patch and crack sealing on Scripps Poway Parkway from Pomerado Road to the eastern city limit (just east of Sycamore Canyon Road), with work occurring Monday through Friday.
Slurry sealing within the Poway Business Park begins the first week of August, taking place on Saturdays and Sundays. The project is scheduled for completion in late September 2016.
Street work will require partial and full closures, depending on the scheduled activities. Business park tenants will be notified prior to the start of work so that they can adjust their travel needs accordingly.
Electronic message signs will be stationed to notify motorists of current road work information. For the most up to date information, visit the City’s website at poway.org/roads.
Poway maximizes the use of public funds by applying the right treatment at the right time to extend the life of the pavement. This approach maximizes citywide pavement life using available and anticipated funding to prevent streets in good condition from degenerating to poor condition.
