[ARCHIVED] City of Poway Launches Online Location Analysis Tool

POWAY, CA – APRIL 6, 2015. The City of Poway now offers site selectors and expanding businesses an online location analysis tool at PickPoway.com, which allows users to view, create and print maps, find available commercial or business property, and develop custom demographic radius reports. PickPoway.com provides immediate access to critical business intelligence that decision makers need in order to make an investment decision.

Using geographic information system software, the website provides immediate, user-friendly access to in-depth information about the City of Poway that previously could take weeks to research. Website visitors can view available properties, along with size, use and cost. Corresponding demographic reports such as labor force, education levels, consumer spending and age can be customized, created and printed. In addition, businesses are mapped by industry showing their distribution and concentrations throughout the area.

Dolores Canizales, president/CEO of the Poway Chamber of Commerce, believes the online location analysis web service will be an invaluable resource for existing businesses and interested investors. “It’s a great tool for expanding or relocating businesses, and for showcasing opportunities in the City of Poway.”

City of Poway Mayor Steve Vaus explains, "PickPoway.com is just one of the many ways Poway lays out the 'welcome mat' for businesses. It’s available 7/24, it’s free and it’s a great tool to help businesses find strategic locations in our 'City in the Country’."

The City of Poway contracted with GIS Planning to develop the site. The GIS-powered website is built upon Google Maps technology, and offers state-of-the-art site selection mapping capabilities.

Bryan Beatty, national account manager at GIS Planning, explained, “It thinks like a site selector thinks in finding a community and then looking for the properties. Market research shows that 97% of site selectors research locations online. If you don't offer the information they are seeking, you are losing leads without ever knowing you were in the running.”

PickPoway.com is also integrated with a national site-selection search engine, www.zoomprospector.com, which allows visitors to conduct national searches of cities and commercial properties that match their unique criteria. GIS Planning patented the technology for community site selection, and has been on the Inc. 5000 list for the past four years.
