It's the second annual Volunteer Fair on Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Old Poway Park. Don't miss this chance to connect, give back, and make a difference - more than 35 organizations are expected to participate and share information about opportunities for volunteers of all ages.
“Our volunteers are the backbone of what happens here at Old Poway Park,” said Recreation Area Manager Sarah Becker. “The train runs on the weekends because of our volunteers. The museum and Nelson House at Old Poway Park are open because of volunteers. It’s what makes our park special, but we also realize the need for volunteers extends well beyond our park and that’s why we are back with our Volunteer Fair again this year.”
Groups will have information on what they do and how community members can get involved, and some will even have a “show and tell” to demonstrate their work.
The event will include emergency vehicles to explore, a model train display, and live entertainment. While at the Volunteer Fair, stop by the Poway Farmers Market for fresh produce, ride the steam engine, and check out the Pottery Studio.
