Learning how to be better prepared for a disaster can potentially save lives, protect property, and minimize the impact of emergencies. That is the reason the Poway Fire Department is hosting Fire Safety & Emergency Preparedness, a free community workshop on Saturday, Sept. 21.
"The actions you take now have a lasting impact," said Disaster Preparedness Coordinator Jenna Stein. "Think of it as an investment - preparing now will empower you to respond calmly and effectively when a disaster does occur."
This is the second of three free workshops. One of the most appreciated take-aways from the first workshop was walking attendees through the mobile/online resources available before, during and after an emergency. Participants also valued learning the science behind wildfire embers and how it guides recommendations for preparing your home and property.
Advance registration is requested. The workshop is 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Poway City Hall, Council Chambers (13325 Civic Center Drive). A third workshop is planned for Saturday, Oct. 19.
