[ARCHIVED] Clear Access to Water Meters

residential water meter

The abundance of rain this year was a good thing, but the flourishing foliage as a result has created challenges for Poway’s Customer Services Field Workers. The team of four read about 3500 water meters every week and rely on water customers to keep access to those meters unobstructed.

The Poway Municipal Code designates that there should be two feet of clearance on all sides of the meter and no obstructions above the meter.

When field workers can’t access meters, it shifts time from their main focus (accurate meter reads for water customers) to trimming and pruning for safe access. When the area is maintained by the home/property owner, it helps our staff do their job more efficiently, and it ensures the end product meets your landscape preferences.
