[ARCHIVED] Clearwell Flushing

map of water flushing week of dec 5

With the temporary bypass system now in use, the city is preparing to replace the city’s aging clearwell (treated water storage reservoir). As part of this process, the remaining water must be removed from the clearwell. Flushing began Monday, Dec. 5 and will continue for the next few days. The flushed water will flow through Poway’s existing stormwater infrastructure.

The temporary bypass and clearwell bypass project are two of three projects in Poway’s $70 million capital improvement program (CIP) to increase the reliability of drinking water for water customers now and for generations to come. The final project of the CIP is to construct a treated water connection to the San Diego Water County Authority pipeline. For more information: poway.org/water-projects.
