[ARCHIVED] Emergency Curfew Extended in Poway

Based on the Sheriff’s recommendation and in alignment with our neighboring cities, the City of Poway will be enacting an emergency curfew for this evening, June 1 at 8 p.m. until tomorrow June 2 at 5:30 a.m. to protect our city and deter unlawful activity.

We reiterate that the safety of our community is our number one priority. We recognize and support every individual’s first amendment right to free speech and to voice that speech in public. We are proud of the peaceful gatherings that we have witnessed in our city so far, but that has not been the case in far too many communities across America after dark.

Please note the following exemptions: All law enforcement, fire, medical personnel, and members of the news media are exempt from this Curfew. Individuals traveling directly to and from work, seeking emergency care, fleeing dangerous circumstances, or experiencing homelessness are also exempt.

Please stay home and stay safe.
