Apply for committee vacancies

     Opportunities are now available for Poway residents interested in taking an active role in their community. The City of Poway welcomes applications to serve on the following advisory committees:

BUDGET REVIEW COMMITTEE – Five vacancies

Qualifications:  Must be a Poway resident.

Purpose:  To review the annual Operating and Capital Improvement Budget as proposed by the City Manager and report its findings to the City Council. Meetings have been scheduled for the FY 2019-2020 review and begin at 6 p.m. at City Hall. Please ensure availability prior to applying: April 30, May 2, May 8, May 14 and May 22.

PARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE – Five vacancies

Qualifications:  Must be a Poway resident.

Purpose:  To advise the City Council on the parks and recreational needs of the City of Poway and to provide a means of encouraging community involvement as it pertains to park development and recreational programming. Meetings are scheduled on an as-needed basis.  

     Both committees consist of five members appointed by the Mayor with concurrence of the City Council. Each Councilmember will offer one nomination for appointment to each committee for Council consideration. The term of membership is two years. 

     To be considered for current and/or future openings, applications are available on the City’s website at www.poway.org under City Clerk’s Office or in the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, 13325 Civic Center Drive. Applications must be submitted to the City Clerk's Office by 5 p.m. February 15. Appointments are anticipated at the March 5 City Council meeting.  

     Those appointed are required to: 1) File a Statement of Economic Interest (Form 700, Fair Political Practices Commission); 2) Uphold the City Code of Ethics; 3) Complete On-Line Ethics Training; and 4) Complete Sexual Harassment Prevention Training and Education.
