Night Fishing: This week ended the last weekend of night fishing here at Lake Poway. 1,300 lbs. of catfish were stocked on August 28th for the last stock of this catfish season.  When renting a boat everyone must bring a face covering and wear it when required. Show picture ID at dock after renting a boat at concessions. All occupants of a boat must be from the same household.

The best bait is still Mackerel, but people also have been successful with chicken livers, Night Crawlers and stink bait. For boaters the best spot will be to tie up to the Log Boom and people fishing from the shore have been having the most success at Jump Off Point and Boulder Bay.  On Friday September 4th Brad Rubino, fishing from shore off Halfmoon Bay caught a 12 lb. catfish using mackerel (see photo).

When you stop by concessions to buy your permit ask about the best spots and baits. They have up to the minute information. Fishing on the lake will now stop at sunset.

Fall Camping: The next event here at Lake Poway is our Fall Camping Series....Sleep under the stars! Set up your tent and enjoy the park at your own pace. Hike the numerous trails, drop a line to catch a fish, cruise the lake on a motorboat, or simply relax by your campsite and enjoy all the natural beauty that Lake Poway offers. Fishing permits and boat rentals not included but may be purchased for a nominal fee at Lake Poway concessions. No alcohol is permitted. This is a rain or shine event! $25 per car. (Any additions must register as an additional group) For more information call (858 668-4772) or visit
