David Sturm Jr. hooked a 6-lb 14-oz Bass on an overcast Saturday morning (photo). He was fishing with a white creature bait in a boat near Half Moon Bay. The bass bite has been good.
The last trout of the season are slowly being caught. They are getting more difficult to find trolling deep in the middle of the lake.
Please release spawning bass, we do not stock bass so the only way to maintain the population is to allow them to spawn.
The next big fishing event at Lake Poway will be Catfish season and night fishing! Night Fishing will start July 5th and continue Friday and Saturday nights through August 31st. During night fishing the park will be open until 11:30 PM and boats can stay out until 11:00 PM. During night fishing half day boats start at 4:00 PM.
When you stop by concessions to buy your permit ask about the best spots and baits. They have up to the minute information. Remember concessions closes at 7:00 PM so come early enough to buy your permit or rent a boat.
