This was the first week of trout season and the trout bite was great! Lots of limits were caught and there were some big fish in the mix. Opening day Dawson Short caught a nice five pound Tailwalker. Dawson was using a minijig in Hidden Bay. Friday Jason Casison (pictured) caught a great 6 pound Tailwalker. Jason was fishing a spoon in Half Moon Bay.
Half Moon and Hidden Bays were the hot spots this week. Other than spoons and minijigs, rainbow powerbait and nightcrawlers were the most successful. Anglers on shore have been doing better than anglers in boats but that could change so check with concessions for the latest hot spots.
Next stock: December 5th, 1,000 pounds of Nebraska Tailwalkers.
The 24th annual Youth Fishing Derby will be held February 2nd, 2019. Check our website at poway.org for details.
When you stop by concessions to buy your permit ask about the best spots and baits. They have up to the minute information. Remember concessions closes at 4:00 PM so come early enough to buy your permit or rent a boat.
