Elizabeth Wang of Kearny Mesa caught her first fish ever and this was her first time fishing. It was a 3 pound 3 ounce catfish that she caught on shrimp while fishing near the log boom. Overall it was another great Friday night for our last stock of the season. Lots of boats came in with limits and people did well on the shore also. Boulder Bay was good again this week as was the log boom.
Mackerel is still probably the best bait although other baits are working.
Catfish Season and Night Fishing are in full swing! Boats can stay out until 11:00 PM and the lake will be open until 11:30 PM.
Night Fishing will continue on Friday and Saturday nights until September 1st.
When you stop by concessions to buy your permit ask about the best spots and baits. They have up to the minute information. Remember concessions closes at 6:00 PM (9:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays during night fishing) so come early enough to buy your permit or rent a boat.
