The Lake Poway catfish record falls again! Avery Lee, age 11, of Rancho Penasquitos caught the massive 47 pound fish November 2nd using mackerel while fishing the log boom. He was using 12 pound test while fishing with family and when we weighed it at the dock it was exactly 47 pounds.
The catfish bite really picked up over the weekend, many anglers landed 4 or 5 fish. Most were fishing from boats on the log boom.
The bass bite is pretty good if you arrive early and know where to fish.
The other news is we have an official opening date for this year’s trout season, November 30th. IMPORTANT! Lake Poway will be closed November 29th for stocking.
When you stop by concessions to buy your permit ask about the best spots and baits. They have up to the minute information. Remember concessions closes at 4:00 PM, so come early enough to buy your permit or boat.
