The Lake Poway Blue Catfish record was smashed Saturday night when Ryan Hopkins with help from Nathan Deweese reeled in a monster 45 pound 8 ounce cat. That is exactly 11 pounds more than the previous record held by Scott Marchese since 2008. Their yells of joy and excitement as they fought it and finally landed it could be heard around the lake. They were using mackerel on 20 lb. test line from the shore at Jump Off Point. After weighing it at the dock they released it.
