Lake Poway Hours: 6:00 AM-7:00 PM
Closed to boating and fishing Mondays and Tuesdays.
This was probably the best week of the trout season so far at Lake Poway. Lots of anglers caught limits of trout and catfish were biting. The best method is trolling deep along the log boom but people fishing from shore caught some nice fish too. Randy and Elias Hanley (pictured) caught a great seven pound Tailwalker from the fishing pier using green power bait on four pound test. Cody LaCour and Anthony Kindred both got catfish limits for a total of 20 pounds, they were using chicken livers and beef blood fishing on the log boom. Blake Beard caught a 14lb cat on mackerel at an undisclosed location. Nightcrawlers, powerbait and power worms are working best for trout. Bass are bedding and most reported catches were in the 3-7 pound range.
Next stock; 1,500 pounds, March 29.
The final two stocks of the season will be combined for 2,800lbs on April 19th
