Operations Division
The Operations Division is the largest of the four divisions within the City of Poway Fire Department. It provides the community with all-risk hazard mitigation and response 24/7. Fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical services, hazardous materials mitigation, special assistance, and public services are provided by a highly trained and dedicated workforce of fifty-one first responders. Three shift Battalion Chiefs, twelve Fire Captain/Paramedics, twelve Fire Engineer/Paramedics, and twenty-four Firefighter/Paramedics are assigned to the Operations Division. All operational personnel are divided into three shifts working a rotational schedule. Utilizing the constant staffing model, each shift (A, B, and C Shift) consists of 17 personnel ready to respond and provide emergency and non-emergency services any time of day. The Operations Division is managed by the Battalion Chief-Operations.
Battalion Chief - Operations
The Battalion Chief-Operations prepares and manages assigned budget areas, performs specialized administrative projects, represents the department's operational interests with regional fire agencies, and performs incident management. The Battalion Chief-Operations coordinates fire apparatus maintenance and repair activities, vehicle procurement, manages communication equipment, and coordinates facility maintenance. In addition to managing overall department wide operations, the Battalion Chief-Operations manages the day-to-day functions of B Shift.
