Emergency Medical Services Division
The Emergency Medical Services Division, managed by the Battalion Chief - EMS/Technology, provides advanced level medical and trauma care to the community following policies set forth by the California and San Diego Emergency Medical Services Authorities. The Poway Fire Department has proudly provided Advanced Life Support services to the citizens of Poway since 1976. All frontline engine and truck companies are staffed with paramedics to ensure immediate advanced life support measures can be delivered in the shortest possible amount of time. The department's two paramedic ambulances are staffed with two firefighter/paramedics, providing Poway's citizens with the highest level of pre-hospital ground transport available in San Diego County.
Battalion Chief - Emergency Medical Services and Technology
The Battalion Chief - EMS and Technology prepares and manages assigned budget areas and performs overall administrative supervision to programs including paramedic policies and protocols, controlled substance inventory, tracking, and auditing, patient care reporting, public access AEDs, paramedic continuing education training, medical supplies, advanced life support medication inventories, and response data collection. The Battalion Chief - EMS/Technology represents the department's operational interests with regional fire and EMS agencies and responds to emergency incidents performing incident management. In addition to managing overall department wide EMS/Technology operations, the Battalion Chief - EMS/Technology manages the day-to-day functions of C Division.
