A General Municipal Election will be held in the City of Poway, California,
on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, for the following Offices:

November 8, 2022 Nomination Period:
The nomination period for these offices begins on July 18, 2022 and closes on August 12, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. If an incumbent does not file for re-election by end of business day on August 12, 2022, this deadline is extended to August 17, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. to all non-incumbents.

There will be a 10-day calendar day examination period when any voter of the City, or the City Clerk may seek a Writ of Mandate or an injunction requiring any or all of the material in the Candidate Statement to be amended or deleted. The public review period for Candidate Statements is from August 13 through August 22 or in the case an incumbent does not file by the deadline causing the nomination period to be extended (for that district only), the public review period (for that district only) will be August 18 through August 27.
The City Clerk is the Elections Official and is responsible for coordinating the Election with San Diego County Registrar of Voters Office, as well as distributing nomination papers, processing ballot measures and petitions, and maintaining all campaign statements and conflict of interest filings required by the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC).
Candidates must be all of the following:
- A U.S. Citizen
- At least eighteen (18) years of age on or before Election day
- A resident and registered voter in the City of Poway (If running for City Council District 1 or District 3, you must reside within that district)
Candidate Fees There are no City of Poway filling fees, however, candidates who choose to have their "Candidate Statement of Qualifications" printed in the sample ballot issued by the County Registrar of Voters must bear the actual cost of printing and distribution. Candidates who opt for this printing are required to pay the fee when the nomination paper and forms are filed with the Poway City Clerk.
