Seniors in the City of Poway enjoy a variety of options when thinking about what to do.
City of Poway Recreation Programs
For those who want to expand their horizons thorough crafts, dance or exercise, the Poway Today recreation newsletter lists the classes currently offered by the City. You can also save time and register online.
Poway Senior Center
The Poway Senior Center, located in the heart of Community Park at 13094 Civic Center Drive, offers classes, a delicious luncheon program, opportunities for trips, and even Bingo twice each week.
Dine at La Bella Bistro
Their delightfully delicious lunch program offers a place to join your friends or make new ones every Monday through Friday. Lunch is served between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Advance notice is required, so if you plan to join them for lunch, please make your reservation by noon two days before by calling (858)748-6094.
Need a ride to the center? Ask about their door-to-door transportation service to and from the Center for lunch.
They also offer a home-delivered meal program for homebound seniors and disabled adults. This service is available to those who reside in the greater Poway area, including Rancho Penasquitos, Scripps Ranch, Carmel Mountain, Rancho Bernardo and Sabre Springs. Enjoy Classes and Activities
Poway Senior Center also offers classes such as water-color, ceramics, and porcelain doll-making. Activities include quilting “Bees” that have their own quilter’s frame and create beautiful works of art which they donate to the center for fundraising. There is also “STEPPING OUT,” and TOPS, a weight loss support group.
Play BINGO!
If a you are looking for a little excitement, win up to $1,199 playing BINGO, held Tuesday afternoons at 12:30 p.m., and
Saturday evenings at 6:30 p.m.
Anyone over the age of 18 is welcome to play and proceeds benefit their Nutrition Program. When you play BINGO with Poway Senior Center you’ll have fun and provide a valuable gift to older adults!
Sponsor “Meals-for-a-Month”
Each month the Center serves 1,200 meals to local older adults in need. This vital service depends upon the generosity of personal and corporate sponsors who cover the cost of 500 meals during a month by donating $2,500. In return, sponsors of Meals for a Month will receive the following:
• Recognition plaque displayed in the Center’s lobby
• Sponsorship poster displayed in the dining area during your month
• Acknowledgment in our monthly newsletter, The Senior Voice
