Derrick, a Lake Poway regular, caught a beautiful 4.5-pound bass this Thursday (photo). He would have released it but it’s was jaw was badly damaged by a previous angler. He caught it using a Roboworm from the Fishing Pier.
The bass bite is still hot with many in the 2 to 9-pound range being caught.
The trout bite has slowed with the warmer water.
Catfish are biting and there will be a lot more when we begin stocking in early July.
Night Fishing begins July 6th and will continue on Friday and Saturday nights until September 1st. Catfish will be stocked July 3rd, 13th, and 27th and August 10th and 24th. Stocking schedule subject to change.
Lake Poway will be hosting our ever-popular Family Campouts again this summer. The dates are July 7th and 21st, and August 4th. Registration link: https://apm.activecommunities.com/cityofpowaycsd/Home. More details are on the Calendar at poway.org.
