Week of February 28 - March 4

Roberto Najera 1 March 2018 7.5 lb, Half Moon, Jig,

The Tailwalker of the week was caught by Roberto Najera this Thursday. It was a seven-and-a-half-pound beauty that he hooked on a jig in Half Moon Bay (see photo).

There were some other nice Tailwalkers caught this week including a 6.4 pounder also caught Thursday.

The bass bite is really picking up, so if you’re interested in hooking one of Lake Poway’s big bass now might be the time to pay us a visit.

We expect the trout bite to pick up again next week when we stock.

Next stock: Trout, March 7th, 1,500 pounds

New this year Lake Poway will be hosting free Trout Fishing Seminars for beginners. The first seminar was a huge success, with over 25 beginner anglers coming out to learn the basics. The seminars are taught by Lake Poway Park Ranger and expert angler Scott Cochran. The remaining dates are March 11th and April 8th. For more information see our website.

See our website for the complete stocking schedule.

When you stop by concessions to buy your permit ask about the best spots and baits. They have up to the minute information. Remember concessions closes at 4:00 PM, so come early enough to buy your permit or boat.
