Business Resources

The City of Poway and Poway Chamber of Commerce co-hosted a special business preparedness workshop on Jan. 31. The goal was to give businesses the tools they need to get prepared, stay informed and keep functioning when disaster strikes. For businesses who missed it, here are some valuable online resources covered during the presentation:

Disastersafety.org – A disaster planning toolkit for small to mid-sized businesses.

Readysandiego.org/business – Resources for San Diego businesses and how to get involved in a San Diego business alliance.

Preparesandiego.org – The local Red Cross resource for Prepare San Diego, a four-year community-wide resiliency initiative.

211sandiego.org – Provides information during times of crisis or disasters on the resources for assistance in the community.

PowayNEC.com – The Poway Neighborhood Emergency Corps is volunteer group that regularly organizes seminars and training to prepare Poway residents for emergencies.

Twitter – In a “breaking news” situation the City will post continuous updates on @cityofpoway. You don’t need to be a Twitter user to follow along. Just click on the Twitter icon at the top of the poway.org website and search @cityofpoway.

Theredguidetorecovery.com – This website offers a free property “memory jogger” – an excel template to record your business belonging if the need arises to report it to your insurance company.
